One of the ten largest universities in the United States, Penn State University, located in State College, provides a fertile atmosphere for entrepreneurs, and offers businesses significant assistance with technology both at its Innovation Park at Penn State and through its many technology transfer and research applications.  The well-established communities of Bellefonte, Phillipsburg, Snow Shoe, and State College are deeply involved in the industrial and mining industries with many advanced process and material applications stemming from University research.  Major employers include Corning, C-Cor, Cerro Metal, Ratheon E-Systems, American Yearbook, Accu-Weather, and MBNA Marketing.  Interstate 99, presently under construction, has opened up new opportunities for businesses currently located in or expanding into Centre County.
